The position will be responsible to the program manager for managing:
· The upgrade of the existing Symantec NetBackUp environment to NetBackUp 7.0
· The conversion of the HP DataProtector and EMC Networker implementations to NetBackUp 7.0
· The implementation of disk-to-disk technologies using either VTL or Symantec AdvancedDisk and PureDisk Deduplication Option
· The implementation of approximately 13 new media servers
· The implementation of a backup LAN
· The implementation of Symantec PureDisk to encompass at least 3 remote sites
· The possible extension of the existing PureDisk implementation to accommodate a remote site
· Add additional tape drives to the production Sun SL3000 tape library
· The move of the remaining backup jobs from the existing Sun SL700e tape library to the new media servers and Sun SL3000 tape library
· The implementation of encryption for tape backups
· Optimization of the backup polices
· Provide guidance on the definition of global backup policies
The consultant should have sufficient experience and expertise to influence the detailed design of the strategic global backup solution and have a proven track record of successfully implementing large backup solutions. The consultant will be expected to be hands-on but will also need to project manage the implementation at a low level reporting to the overall backup program manager. All backup and recovery administration will be contracted to provide assistance to the project equivalent to one full time resource. The contractor must be capable of working autonomously with minimal supervision.
The period of engagement will start in June to late December. 25% Travel is required.
