Systems Alliance and Symantec to Host Briefing On Boosting Compliance and Security with Automated IT Controls

Legg Mason CTO Dan Greller to Deliver Keynote at March 18, 2008 Lunch Briefing for IT Executives, CFOs and Internal Auditors

SPARKS, Md., March 4, 2008 – Systems Alliance Inc., a software development firm and systems integrator providing high-value IT and business consulting services, today announced it was hosting a lunch briefing with Symantec focused on helping area businesses better understand how they can strengthen compliance and security through the use of automated IT controls.

The invitation-only event for CFOs, CIOs and internal auditors, will be held on March 18, 2008 from 11:45 am to 1:30 pm at the Capital Grille in Baltimore. Interested executives may request an invitation by visiting the event page on the Systems Alliance Website: http://www.systemsalliance.com/lp/ccs/ccs_MD_seminar.html.

Compliance and security are increasingly inter-related topics of concern for IT and finance executives, especially those at public companies and organizations operating in highly regulated industries. Performing audits on security systems and other IT-powered business processes is a complex and time consuming undertaking, taxing personnel from corporate finance and IT departments.

The Systems Alliance lunch briefing will provide insight into best practices for automating compliance-related monitoring and reporting. It will feature a discussion on the topic led by Dan Greller, Chief Technology Office with Legg Mason and Gary Bishop, a Compliance Specialist with Symantec.

Topics covered during the lunch will include:

  • Building a secure, process-based approach for regulatory compliance
  • Translating vague regulatory and framework guidelines into actionable policy
  • Eliminating time consuming manual audits
  • Streamlining reporting
  • Aligning control architecture with frameworks such as COSO, COBIT, or ISO17799
  • Reusing control processes across regulations
  • Driving more effective governance through controls and remediation lifecycle

This lunch briefing is the first in a series of executive briefings Systems Alliance has planned for 2008. The company will host additional executive briefings throughout the year in Baltimore and other regional centers throughout the Southeast, including Washington, DC, Raleigh and Charlotte North Carolina, Nashville, Tennessee, and Birmingham and Huntsville, Alabama. Events will be posted on the Systems Alliance Website.
